The Bath-1.

Hi people, here I am trying to perfect my flesh tone again. I’ve been looking at Carvagio, Robert Ferri and a bunch of other baroque painters. I painted the under painting in blue and green this time and got a remarkable realistic kin tones (for me), I’ll be trying this on some portraits in the coming weeks. I’ll also be puting these paintings up for sale on my blog.

See you and stay safe,

Bill

Odin

odin-web

Hi People, heres the digital painted drawing of Odin seeking advice from the head of Mimir, because thats what Norse Gods do. It was painted in Artrage, I still need to practice this. I’ll be doing a series of small artifacts, weapons and stuff using this process of drawing it and then painting over it in Artrage.

Thanks for looking in,

Liberandum

Hey people,
I decided to try something different on this one. The last couple of weeks I read a few Tutorials in how to digital paint over different mediums. I wanted to try this, so I made a really tight drawing and then proceeded. I also wanted this to be different in terms of subject matter, so I also wanted the painting to have a 1970s science fiction feel to it. I will be doing more of these and will limit it for the time being to sci-fi themes.

By for now,

Bill

Be carefull what you agree to.

Ok, there is story behind this painting. I asked my brother for idea for a painting. I asked him for three ideas and I would play this through as an Art director giving me an assignment. Now I don’t know how many hours my brother and I played D&D, collected comicbooks together and generally shared a Love for most things fanasty and science fiction. Well He suprised me with the request to paint nothing to do with those two categories. He asked me to Paint our dog in the park playing ball.

I hate painting grass, I try to avoid it at all cost, but I decided to make this into a grass painting study. I really hestitated sharing this, I feel like I was hardly above water while painting this. And Bro if you’re reading this, sorry but I did the best I could.

My painting set-up.

This is my little corner of the house that I paint and draw in. It has a lot of natural indirect sunlight which I love, and I can open the door and go outside if I want some fresh air.

My dragon painting is coming along, I’m still in the “happy-state” where this will be the best painting I’ve ever painted. I also changed the perspective, I think it give the picture more dynamic.

Stay cool.

The First Sword of Braavos, oil painting.

TheFirstSwordOfBraavos-web

“The first sword of Braavos does not run.” When I read that passage in the first book of the Games of Thrones series this character captured my imagination. As a boy I ate up the Three Musketeers. I would make wooden swords and my sister and I would play sword fight. I pictured Syrio Forell almost as an older D’Artagnan, proud and intelligent. I painted this in just over two months and I learned quite a bit, it is also the biggest and complexest painting that I painted so far. I also gained quite a bit of confidence in myself while painting this.

”Thanks for looking in and stay hungry,

Trying to paint the perfect skin tones.

Sitting woman's back-web

Hey, hey people. After reading Jesper Ejsing’s post about painting skin over at Muddy Colors, I tried his suggest and stayed away from using black or paynes gray. I also looked at a lot of Carvaggio and Roberto Ferri paintings and tried to analyze how they handled painting skin tones. I still have a ways to go but I made an advancement with this study.

The Green-Hell, or how I learned how to paint grass.

Einhausen-Bridge Almost -Finished

I started this painting thinking what a cool image this is. We went for a walk in a small village close to us and I took a picture of this bridge, loving the water and all the shadows and the lovely shades of green, thinking this would be a great painting. Little did I know grass is not just green, but a combination of many shades of green and usually a yellow-green when the sun is shining on it. It took me a while to realize this and was always wondering why my grass didn’t look like the grass outside. I still have a few things to do in this painting, but I’m at the stage where I see light at the end of the tunnel and start planning my next painting.

What I’m working on.

first week

Heres a really bad picture of what I am working on right now. If there is one thing I can do is take a bad picture. This is the underpaint, I’m doing this in shade of burnt Sienna, with maybe a little green and blue thrown in here and there. I’m not even done here and I’ve thought of my next project, I’ve got to slow down and concentrate on this one first.

I modeled the background steps and door on blender and used makehuman for the people in the scene, and with the final render I went over and drew this out on my canvas and am painting over it. I like this procedure, I can control everything and make multiple color adjustments with the lighting, textures and the shadows.
