WIP-The first sword of Bravos.

Hey people, heres what I’m working on at the moment. My first night time scene, and let me tell you not easy and one can’t take a decent photo of it either. I still have a lot of work on this. This will probably be one of those pieces that you look back after a year and cringe and ask yourself what you were thinking about. I guess you learn something with every painting. This is my usual process during painting a picture:

  1. I am in love with the idea and gather reference and make drawings, “This will be my best painting EVER.”
  2. Ok, the cold reality sets in, “This will be a lot of work,” the under painting doesn’t look like what I was thinking of.
  3.  Its ok, there are some parts of the painting that I like, but the other parts, the painting glares at me from the corner asking, “How could you do this to me?”
  4. Me and the painting find a way to each other and in the end we both are happy with the outcome.

Basically I wanted to make the character the central point in the painting, so I have to put a lot of effort in to rendering him. I am at about point 3 right now and waiting patiently for point 4 to set in.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look,
